CARTMEL PRIORY SCHOOL LEADS PERFORMANCE TABLES IN CUMBRIA
In mid-January, the Department for Education published the Performance Tables of GCSE exam results for students that left school in June 2016. We are delighted that, once again, GCSE students performed exceptionally well in their exams, achieving a Progress 8 score of +0.5 for the second year running. This means students achieved, on average, ½ a GCSE grade per subject per pupil higher than similar students nationally across 8 subjects, including English and maths, based on their performance at the end of primary school.
These outstanding results were based on the school achieving positive Progress 8 scores in all the Progress 8 areas i.e. English, maths, sciences, humanities, languages and open subjects (open subjects are those not included in the other categories).
This score makes the school the highest performing school in Cumbria in terms of pupil progress, and maintains our status in recent years as one of the best performing schools in the County in terms of value added.
Staff are obviously delighted with the outcomes achieved by our students. We will continue to work hard to ensure all pupils make the best progress possible to fulfil their potential.
As Head, I would like to thank the staff and parents for their support and to congratulate the students on their success. We are very proud of you all and wish you well for the future.
